can you practice basic footwork on carpet?

I am trying to practice basic footwork in my house, but it has carpet. Will that impend my progress?

Answer: Thank you for your post. If you are a beginner and don’t know how your footwork should be, it is not a good idea to practice footwork on carpet. I strongly recommend you practice on the wooden floor.
