What material to use as an alternative to leather parts on shinai

I am interested in making my own tsukagawa, nakayui and sakigawa from a non leather material (I am Hindu and want to limit the amount of leather I have).

I know that they are normally made of cow or deer leather but I don't know the exact name for it(it is soft on both sides not like leather I have seen on sofa etc).

Does anyone know what non leather material I could use or what material is exactly used on shinai?

Thank you in advance.

Answer: Thank you for your question! Maybe you can try artificial leather. Artificial leather is used for bogu parts but I am not sure how it turns out when used for shinai parts. For the shinai parts, you need to choose white artificial leather though.

If you ever try, let me know!
