What exactly is kusarigamajutsu?

I have seen many people using kusarigamas. I was wondering if they wear the same kendo bogus as kendokas do during sparring. Is it possible?

It looks possible. Since I’ve never done kusarigama, I don’t know for sure but I imagine it would be hard to use a chain with a pair of kendo kote on.
