I’m really interested in joining kendo and I’m 16. But I’m a little worried because I’ve had a few sword practices in my childhood and I’ve always had trouble holding it with two hands. Is it allowed for me to use one hand?
Answer: Thank you for your question. Basically, you have to learn how to hold the sword with two hands. As you become advanced, you may be able to learn nito (two sword stance) or jodan. But first, you must learn how to hold the sword with both hands.
