Do Girls Fight Guys in Competitions?

I was wondering if there was any gender barrier in kendo.

Answer: Thank you for your question. For kids, it is very rare to have boys and girls categories but it depends on the size of participants, I think.

Now we usually have separate male and female due to physical differences, especially in individual tournaments. However, we can make tournaments for different grades such as 1-dan to 3-dan category. In that case, male and female fight.
