Can't do seiza because of knee injury, what are the alternatives?

Hi, I am starting practicing kendo, but I can't perform seiza because I had an injury on my left leg before, a tibia plateau fracture on which required an operation for a metal plate and screws placed. I cannot fully flex my left knee to perform seiza, may I know what are the alternatives other than seiza? Thanks and more power from the Philippines!

Answer: Thank you for your question. You can cross your legs. Some people have their both knees down and that's it. If you cannot do that, I don't think it will be a problem if you just stand. Ask your teacher what you can do.

Hope this helps!
