This is How Juan Fixed His Shinai

I have a short practical question. Is there any way to fix a shinai that is bending?

A fellow kenshi realized about it today, my sinai is bending towards the opposite side of the tsuru. So when I'm in kamae, the tip is lower than it should and I have to adjust the position.

I've been using it for over a year and never rotated it, so I guess it's due to constant hitting on the same place.

I'd like to know if there is a remedy for this, as apart from that, the shinai is in good condition.

Thanks a lot.

Answer: Thank you for your question. Like you say, we usually rotate the shinai if you want to keep it longer but then shinai usually breaks. I am not sure what you can do with a bent shinai like that. If the shinai is bent until others can notice it, then probably it is bent too much to fix.

For your current shinai, it is dangerous to use a bent shinai so you should get a new one. And if you can visit a kendo shop to buy shinai, check the thickness of each piece. And make sure each piece is almost equal. So it affects less when you rotate your shinai.

Hope this helps.
