Kendo-Guide.Com Newsletter, Issue #046 - Violence in Kendo

Thank you for opening the newsletter.

It is already February! How are you doing?

I went to Detroit Tournament held on 2/13. Since my shoulder is not ready for shiai, I was a referee all day!

There were very interesting and exciting shiai. I really enjoyed the tournament!

Those who organized the tournament did a very good job. Thank you!

I had a bit of talk with volunteers who were helping scoring and timing matches. Without them, it was impossible to have any matches. Thank you!

I had a chance to referee with one of the 8-dan, Kamata sensei. It was a very nice experience! It was my first time to be a referee with an 8-dan sensei!

I learned a lot including what an 8-dan considers a valid cut and how to position ourselves in order for us to judge better.

I would like to share what I learned at the seminar in an article sometime soon (hopefully!)

Recently I wrote an article, "Violence in Kendo".

Recently I received questions related to violence in kendo. So I wanted to write an article dedicated to the topic.

And also check out the updates listed below!

Enjoy the Newsletter!
