Is kendo tough?

by Marissa Rossin

Since I was 15 I have been interested in kendo and wanted to learn the history of it. I am now 19 years old and I have a feeling that the class is going to be tough. Are the classes hard?

Answer: Thank you for your question. If you mean it is difficult to learn by tough, it is always hard to learn something at the beginning. But you're only 19, so kendo won't be that hard to learn.

If you want to be good at kendo, of course you have to train very hard. In that sense, yes, kendo can be very tough. And if you don't train hard, you don't improve. If you don't improve, I don't think you will find it very interesting anyway.

My father started kendo when he was 55 years old. And he made it to 5-dan. If you want to start, start when you want to. It doesn't matter how hard it is, if you like it you will improve anything.

Good luck!
