He is a New Zealander. He is Chief-Editor of Kendo World Magazine. He passed his 7-dan exam at his first attempt.

There are many non-Japanese 7-dan but there aren't many who passed 7-dan for their first attempt. Even for Japanese people, it is very hard to do.

But he did it.

I have known him for almost 20 years now.

When we talk, we usually end up with talking about kendo with tons of beer cans/glasses.

But this time, without any beers, I interviewed him!

I asked what I wanted to ask him but it turned out it is beneficial for every one of us, kendo freaks.

It is priceless to me. I really am lucky to hear the story through this interview. And now I have it recorded.

We can watch this valuable lesson over and over.
