Waiting period from sho dan to ni dan for older people.

Hi Sensei,

I am 64 years old and passed sho dan test in Jan, 2015. When can I test for ni dan?

Some people said that the waiting period for people over 60 is half, but some said over 65.

I am not sure which one is true.

Thanks you in advance.

Kendo-Guide.Com: Thank you for your post. First of all, congratulations!! Please do keep up the good work!

Now about the waiting period. Or we call it “training period” for the next grade.

The answer is…

You should talk to your federation.

What I heard a while ago is that All Japan Kendo Federation removed that system so it no longer applies. BUT… that is what I heard so you should double check with your federation. If you are in Florida, probably you should ask Maeda sensei. He should be able to give you the correct answer.

Good luck for your ni-dan!
