Timing is off. What am I doing wrong?

by Jeung Woo Hong
(Cypress)

Recently, I have a lot of trouble with my timing. When I see an opening, my body won't listen to me for no reason. Is there anything I'm missing?

Answer: Thanks for your question.
Possible reasons:

  1. Not enough kakari geiko

  2. Not ready to strike (no seme with sen)

  3. Body and mind are not integrated

  4. You are physically and/or mentally in the status of ituki (including shishin)

  5. Just tired

When such a problem occurs, all you have to do is to train harder than usual. That means striking more than usual.

And this type of problem occurs quite often so don’t think too much. Just strike.
Hope this helps.
