Found Kendo Club
by: Adrian

Thank you for your inspirational comments and thank you so much Hiro for your Kendo for Life as you have helped create so much enthusiasm to continue kendo training.

I have come across a Kendo club registered with the Australian Kendo Renmei and only about an hour drive away. We will be travelling there each week as well as training locally at the hall I am hiring and training my son.

We are now both able to learn from a Dan instructor who spent much of his time in Japan studying Kendo and we are able to be registered Kendo practitioners and affiliated with the International Kendo Federation.

I will also continue with the excellent teachings from Kendo for life.

Domo Hiro

Ever respectful
Adrian

Starting a Kendo Club
by: Anonymous

I posed the same question nearly two years ago ....except that I new nothing about kendo and it was also not known in my country Namibia.

Subsequently I came upon this website and started teaching myself from the information made available by Hiro Sensei.

My Karate background made it easier to understand the concepts but being retired and on the wrong side of 60 posed it's own challenges....

After approximately 6 months home training, I visited the Japanese Embassy in Namibia to hear whether it would be possible to invite a student who is also a Kendoka, during their break to initiate Kendo training in Namibia.

After an hour of explaining my game plan to establish Kendo in Namibia, the interviewer announced that he himself is a 5th Dan Kendoka

I have now been training with Sensei Shin Hamada for a year and have established a Windhoek Kendo Club and Registered the Namibian Kendo Federation with the National Sports Council.

My point is that with lots of enthusiasm, support, hard work and dedication you can make your club a reality
