I recently purchased a Shinai online. The store said it was 46 inches in total. The shinai length (regulated by International Kendo Federation) is the total length (blade + handle) and with saki-gawa* and tsuka-gawa on. The shinai weight does not include a tsuba (hand-guard). Saki-gawa is a leather part on the tip of shinai.Tsuka-gawa is a leather part on the handle.
