How To Train Kikentaiichi

by Jeong
(Cypress)

What are some ways to train your Ki-ken-tai-icchi at home? Sorry if it seems an awkward question.

Answer: Thanks for your post. It is not an awkward question at all.

It is a good idea to practice at home as well as at dōjō.

If you cannot shout and make big noises at home, you can do it very quietly. Fumikomi does not have to be loud and strong.

The important thing is that you coordinate all the movements together.

Ki-ken-tai-icchi basically means "synchronize ki, sword and body". So slow everything down and check your body movements. Pay attention to how your body weight shifts, when your right foot lands, where your hands are and so forth.

Hope this helps.
